Let’s Celebrate Local!

How are you feeling about your business?  

I’m feeling optimistic about the business as we have amazing customers that love our food and ambiance as it’s affordable. Besides, what’s better then a goulash and a lager in this testing times.

Buy local, support local, be local as we all have to start somewhere and where better then your own neighbourhood?

What has changed for you positively as a result of lockdown? 

In lockdown I made a decision not to shut Goulash - doing whatever we can to help the community in a small way, whether it was by offering goulash, coffee , food , essentials or just to support someone who needed a chat. I was there alone for a month straight, not speaking to anyone for hours except 'Ben the pigeon' but I had a lot of time to reflect what’s important in life. Honestly I met so many amazing people who have become goulash regulars.

Tell us what, for you, makes a ‘good’ local business.  

A good local business in my opinion is to be honest to yourself and your customers. Being proud and passionate about what you do and give back what you can to your customers even if you make less on your profit line. 

Can you name a local business which you support around food & drink?

We practice what we preach and lead by example buying from our neighbours at Green Park Station.

Can you name a local business which you support around clothing or accessories? 

We buy stuff from Brian who has been in Green Park station for 12 years or maybe more. He sells clothing from tops, socks to face masks, whatever you fancy and we also get our records from Mark's record shop. He has everything vinyl and if he doesn’t have it, he can order it in.

Can you name anyone in business who has really had your back over the months? 

Ethical Property has been supportive with our business throughout the lockdown as well.

Can you name on person in your life who has really helped you during this time? 

Besides my wife Gosia, my friends Damian and Wera have really helped me in this difficult times as Peter had to go abroad. Without them there’s no Goulas. Saying that we are ready to open Goulash Bristol - so ready or not Bristol we coming to Goulash you!

Your parting thought? 

We all are in this together, the best way in my opinion is to move forward and be creative and be nice to each other. Life is precious as I’m sure we have all realised by now.
