Let's Talk
Marshfield Bakery wins the prestigious IGD Employability Award, sponsored by Mars UK.
Last night (Tuesday, 18th October), the company was honoured for its work both in the region and nationally in championing employability initiatives that address employability challenges, by delivering inspirational work experience and skills development opportunities.
Chris Smith, MD of Marshfield Bakery said, “We were thrilled to accept this award as it clearly shows how a smaller business, rurally based, can work with other organisations to improve lives in our community. Through apprenticeships, school, college and university partnerships we have both supported our community and had meaningful help in achieving our goals”.
Tamsin Jones, Head of Talent Acquisition at Mars UK, said: “What impressed the judges about the winning team was the enthusiasm and passion, plus the scale of the impact they are making to the employability agenda given the size of the business. Their focus doesn’t end at creating a positive environment and culture for their own business; they are encouraging engagement with the food industry as a whole.
“Marshfield is a champion for building talent by hiring people, not just filling jobs. This gives its employees the opportunity to really shape their own roles into what best suits their skills and strengths.”
About the IGD Awards
The winners of the IGD Awards were selected by some of the industry’s top people, including representatives from IGD and companies from across the food and grocery supply chain. The results were announced on 18th October at the Awards ceremony, which was hosted by television personality Fiona Bruce.
IGD is a research and training charity that helps the food and grocery industry to deliver the needs of the public.
