Thrings continues to showcase breadth of talent through Legal 500 guide

Thrings has welcomed recognition for its lawyers across the firm with numerous departments once again being ranked highly within the prestigious Legal 500 directories.

Drawn from research of law firms across the world, including the testimony of thousands of clients, the renowned rankings have been providing key insight into the capabilities of organisations and individuals within the sector for more than 30 years.

In the 2024, unveiled today, Thrings’ South West-based Agriculture team retains its status as a top tier practice area, continuing to stand out against other firms across the UK.

A further 17 practice areas have been recommended in this year’s rankings, demonstrating the breadth of talent and consistency across the firm, with each having also earned recommendations last year.

The firm’s Corporate and Commercial teams in both Bristol and Swindon retain their recommended status, with the Commercial Litigation and Debt Recovery teams once again highlighting the firm’s reputation in Dispute Resolution.

This is mirrored by Thrings’ work in the South West finance sector as one again the Bristol-based Banking and Finance and Insolvency and Corporate Recovery teams feature in the listings.

Continuing the strength of the Private Client team in the South West, the Family team are once again ranked, as are the Contentious Trusts and Probate team, and the personal tax, trusts and probate team.

Real Estate is again recognised as a strength for the firm with the Commercial Property, Construction and Planning teams all ranked. Also retaining their recommendations in the South West are the specialist Employment and Intellectual Property teams.

In Romsey, both the Agriculture and Family teams have re-secured their high-tier recommended statuses, showing the geographical consistency across the firm.

A total of 41 lawyers across Thrings are recognised individually in the rankings for the outstanding contribution to their areas of law. Among these, seven individuals are highlighted as “Leading Individuals” in their practice areas.

They are: Duncan Sigournay, Head of Agriculture, Russell Reeves, Head of Agriculture Litigation; Ramona Derbyshire, who appears twice – once as a Partner in the Commercial Dispute Resolution team and again in her role as Head of Recoveries; Sally Pike, who leads the Romsey-based Family team; Mike Tomlin, Head of Banking and Finance; and Megan Jefferies, a partner in the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution team.

A further three Thrings Partners have, for the second year running, been recognised as the leaders of tomorrow, ranked as “Next Generation Partners” in the directory – Corporate and Commercial lawyer Elaine Meyrick, Agriculture litigation specialist Robert James and Family lawyer Kate Barber.

The announcement follows the recent news that Thrings has been ranked in six categories of this year’s Legal 500 Future Lawyers guide, making it one of the best firms in the UK for trainees.

Simon Holdsworth, Managing Partner, said: “It is fantastic to see Thrings continue its prominence within the Legal 500 listings, with teams and individuals across our specialist sectors and our various offices recognised - a testament to the outstanding teams and individuals across the firm.

“These listings are of particular interest to us as the listings are based on feedback from clients, so ranking well is a clear reflection of the quality of service we provide. I want to congratulate colleagues in every practice area listed and look forward to seeing what the year ahead holds.”
