As a business owner, you are likely trying to get work done on time as much as possible. Having employees work beyond their scheduled hours can be costly and inefficient. Even if you don’t have enough people to do all the work, you do have some options to be more productive within operating hours.

Even if you have a small team, it is risky to have one point of failure. This means the whole system can stop working if the point fails. If you have only one employee with experience and skills, they may end up picking up the slack, and they may need to spend more time working since they are what keeps your business going. However, this is not sustainable, as an employee who spends all their time working will burn out. If they take a vacation, call out sick, or even find another job, you will be left hanging. It is important to spread out the tasks among the whole team and make sure you cross-train. Other people should be able to step in to pick things up.
