Guyers House Hotel & The Worlds First Amphibian Pedal Powered Boat
Ebrahim Hemmatnia from Holland stopped off for a well-earned rest at Guyers House Hotel & Restaurant in Corsham this bank holiday weekend, whilst on his 30 day journey around the UK.
Ebrahim cycled his amphibian and pedal powered boat called BootFiets, which means Ad Infinitem from Gloucester to Guyers.
The carbon fibre vessel is pedal powered and can be used both on land and in water. Ebrahim crossed the channel from Ijmuiden in the Netherlands on Friday April 19th coming ashore at Lowestoft and then travelling across the UK to Nottingham and then south through Wolverhampton, Coventry, Warrington and Gloucester. Ebrahim enjoyed the Wiltshire hospitality with a smile at Guyers House near Chippenham on the homeward leg of his journey. He travels back across the channel on Friday 17th May.
The journey is a trial run before Ebrahim’s mammoth trip around the equator which will start later this year for the benefit of several charities, including:
- Warchild
- Unicef
- Lilianefonds (children with a handicap)
- Vluchtelingenwerk (refugees)
- World With No Borders
Never before has anyone travelled around the Equator in one and the same vehicle. The journey will take Ebrahim 35,000kms over water and 15,000kms over land. In total 50,000 km, every metre of which will be powered by human strength. The journey which starts in Dakar and ends in Dakar could take around 800 days.
Guyers House Hotel & Restaurant were delighted to host Ebrahim on his travels and the staff and guests at the hotel will watch with interest as he travels around the world. For more information on his remarkable attempt please visit http://www.willpowered.nl
