REVIEW: Al Fresco Dining at the Abbey Hotel
If you are looking for the perfect summer dining spot, then look no further than the beautiful Abbey Hotel Terrace. With panoramic views of the Bath stone, you can enjoy the most delicious food and drink, and still adore your surroundings.
We were around a comfortable round table, with cushioned seats and the option to have a perfect sized umbrella over us. As the weather was providing us with some shade already, we opted for no umbrella, but it was nice to know that The Abbey Hotel could be a place to cool down.
After we discussed what to have to drink, our lovely waitress approached us and advised us to order the pitcher of Pimm’s (there was too much good choice)! We were highly impressed with the Pimm’s, as the colours were bursting with that summer orange glow and the taste was a slice of perfection.
Shortly after, we ordered our main meal and sides. We were both very impressed with the menu layout, offering both light and larger dishes. We of course took to the larger dishes, as a long day on your feet equates to a heartier meal needed.
For my main meal, I decided to go for the ‘grilled halloumi burger, glazed pretzel bun, tomato and horseradish sauce, and triple cooked chunky chips’. Doesn’t this sound mouth-watering already? Once I had received the glorious dish, I was so excited to dive in - it looked insane. The taste of the whole burger was a delight, and the chips were one of the best batches I’ve ever had.
My partner went for the refreshing ‘king prawn becenti, fresh chilli, garlic and parsley butter’. To his words it “hit the spot” and left him feeling ready to dive into the sides that we had ordered too. We both knew that one of us had to decide on a lighter dish to enjoy the sides too and it worked amazingly.
We both had the delicious ‘margarita flatbread, fresh basil and garlic oil’ and the ‘beer battered onion rings’. Our table was looking very mouth-watering and we noticed a few walkers by looking very impressed with the layout. Of course, both sides were highly scrumptious, and it was a great option to dive in and out of.
In review of The Abbey Hotel Terrace, I can confirm that their dishes and seating area are perfect for that summer occasion, a bit of ‘me’ time or catching up with a good friend. If you are looking to enjoy Bath and eat a heart-warming meal, then The Abbey Hotel is perfect for you.
