In its fifth year of running the Bath Good Food Awards which is sponsored by a food service distribution company Arthur David. They have been suppliers to the catering industry all over the South West for the past 50 years. As well as this the Local Producers Awards are sponsored by Almondsbury Garden Centre.
Over 15,000 votes were cast by the public and businesses in and around Bath, and submitted online at the Bath Good Food Awards website. This is the biggest vote to date for the Awards which has become a well-recognised feature of the Bath food scene. The businesses that received the most public votes and made this year’s shortlist are listed below.
The next stage will see a panel of expert judges visit the restaurants to make their final decisions. The panel will visit each shortlisted business as mystery diners to judge their food and service, and will conduct a blind tasting of local produce at the Local Producers Awards judging day in early November.
The independent judging panel is led by head judge Angela Mount, and this year will include:
• Richard Bertinet – Bertinet Kitchen Cookery School, author and BBC Food Champion
• Wan Ping Coombs – Masterchef winner 2014
• Noya Pawlyn – Noya’s Kitchen cookery school
• Bini Ludlow – Sweet Cumin Indian cookery school
• Adrian Kirikmaa – catering and curriculum manager City of Bristol College
• Josh Eggleton – chef patron of Michelin-starred Pony & Trap, Chew Magna
• Steve Ashworth – well-known South West foodie, SW Chef of the Year 2013
• Chris Wicks – Old Down Manor executive chef
The 2015 winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Evening at the Bath Pavilion on Sunday 17th January, a fantastic evening where the Bath food industry will celebrate the achievements that have helped make the city one of the region’s leading culinary hotspots.
