Parade Gardens
About: Parade Gardens comes at the very top of our list, because you really can’t beat the peaceful sound of the river flowing by when enjoying some good picnic food. This beautiful park in the heart of the city is ideally located, with amenities nearby and stunning views of Pulteney Bridge. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted in Parade Gardens.
Please note there is a small fee to enter during the summer months.

Bath Skyline
About: If you want to escape the city hustle and bustle, then Bath Skyline is idyllic. It may be situated just a couple of miles outside the city centre, but it gives you a real countryside feel and most impressively, offers panoramic views across Bath. For the best picnic spot, we’d recommend Bathwick Fields which is a beautiful wildflower meadow where you can view all the best sights.

Facilities: Six-mile circular walk (if desired), dogs welcome. Toilets at Prior Park Garden nearby.

Sydney Gardens
About: Sydney Gardens is a more peaceful option for picnickers who prefer to escape the business and enjoy more privacy. Although Sydney Gardens is popular in summer months, there are plenty of hidden areas you can make your own with a picnic beside the river, or perhaps nestle in the woodland areas underneath the towering trees.

Royal Victoria Park
About: Dining with a picnic al-fresco in Royal Victoria Park truly is an honour, because not many views compare to the stunning Royal Crescent! This park is a real sun trap and makes an idyllic location for a picnic. There is plenty of open space in different areas of the park, so you can easily keep your distance from others whilst having your picnic and enjoy quality time with loved ones.

Henrietta Park
About: If it’s a blisteringly hot day and you’re looking for a shady spot to have your picnic, then Henrietta Park is the place to be. This park is well known for its beautiful shrubs, hedges and marvellous trees, which create perfect shady patches on hot days. Benches are also dotted around the park, and there is plenty of spacious green to enjoy a game or two after your picnic!
