Cocktail Bar Circo Launches Sister Establishment
A new restaurant/bar in the heart of the city is hoping to change the way that people eat, drink, work and play in Bath.
Following the great success of his hotel The Halcyon and award-winning cocktail bar Circo, Giles Thomas wanted to create somewhere to go that was cool, interesting and fun and versatile enough to suit a casual business breakfast, lunch with the family or a cheeky craft beer or two at the end of the day.
His vision for The Porter was for it to be the city’s most laid-back place to hang out. Since opening it's doors this summer, the venue has already proven to be an exciting new addition to Bath's social, foodie and cultural scene.
Occupying a stylishly designed four-storey Georgian Townhouse in the heart of Bath, each level of the venue is has it's own individual character and distinct atmosphere.
The restaurant/bar's many charms include an all-day kitchen-style restaurant headed up by double-Michelin starred chef Rob Clayton, two bars, a lounge and private rooms for meetings or celebrations.
While The Basement boasts all the trappings of a hip hot-spot, Clayton's Kitchen at The Porter on the ground floor is a must-dine destination whether you’re a die-hard foodie or just dropping by for a casual bite.
Airy and flooded with natural light, the First Floor Bar and Lounge is the perfect place to meet friends and colleagues, catch up on emails or read the papers. Last but certainly not least the 2nd Floor Library and Study doubles as a swish conferencing facility or elegeant private dining retreat.
A varied and lively events calendar is a crucial part of The Porter’s buzzing atmosphere and social mix. Regular ticketed highlights include a monthly Clayton’s Kitchen Supper Club, a gourmet Clayton’s Friends night featuring a celebrated Guest Chef, Sunday Jazz Lunches, Champagne High Teas, Live Comedy, mid-week Blues & Folk sessions and a raft of top DJ’s on rotation playing from Thursday - Saturday nights.
Other events highlights include The Porter’s Cocktail Master Class, Gin High Tea Tasting Parties and The Porter Music Sessions.
As well as grown-ups The Porter proudly caters to younger visitors too. They believe that there's slightly more to being family-friendly than doling out a pot of crayons and having a stash of highchairs (although they do have those too).
Every Monday from 10am-3pm The Porter's informal coffee “morning” gives Mums and Dads the chance to chat and compare notes over a Capuccino while their little darlings explore the soft play area, books and toys. There's also their Saturday Morning Cinema Club and Little Porter Parties.
If you’re looking to relax in an environment with fab decor, incredible food and an enticing mix of music, drinking and dancing, The Porter is the place for you.
