Your Total Guide To eating & drinking
Pancake dishes are on the menu at cafes and restaurants across SouthGate Bath today (Tuesday 21st February), including Maple and Bacon or Strawberry and Cream pancakes at Giraffe, and Buttermilk pancakes with berries, bananas and Greek yoghurt or streaky bacon, blueberries, and maple syrup at Cosy Club.
Visitors can also try a twist on the traditional crepe at YO Sushi! with a Japanese pancake that has a light custard centre and is served with a tangy raspberry coulis.
Those who want to flip their own at home will find everything they need to make the perfect stack at Morrisons Market Kitchen.
To mark Shrove Tuesday, SouthGate Bath has also created an edible tribute to the city.
In a video by artist Courtney Cole, showing how the pancake has been crafted, the batter is shaped into a design featuring Bath’s iconic skyline with key landmarks including Bath Abbey and Pulteney Bridge.
Guy Henderson, centre director at SouthGate Bath, said: “We wanted to do something a little bit different to celebrate Pancake Day this year and what better way than challenging someone to try the Bath skyline in batter!
“We hope those visiting us today enjoy a pancake or two – whether they’re a sweet or savoury fan, or enjoy something in between!”
