Review: Smashburger Bath

Summer in Bath is beautiful even without a good meal to complete your evening. My partner and I visited Bath on one of the most sunny and picturesque evenings imaginable and we were delighted to be invited to review Bath's latest Burger restaurant, Smashburger.

As a lovers of all things Burger we excitedly approached the fresh, well designed restaurant front and were immediately greeted by friendly, attentive staff who promptly showed us to our table and handed us the menus. It being one of the hottest days of the year, it was refreshing to see the staff's attention directed at not only making sure that you had everything you wanted but you were comfortable in the air conditioned restaurant. A much appreciated touch having being walking around in the Sun for a couple of hours.

Taking a look at the menu it was clear that this was a Burger venue with a difference, containing everything from the 'classics' such as the 'Classic SMASH Cheeseburger' all the way to the 'Avocado Club'. This diverse menu was complimented by the wait staff's knowledge of their menu and accurate recommendations depending on your likes and dislikes. We ended up ordering a 'Classic SMASH Cheeseburger' with the waiter recommended addition of a Fried Egg on top. 'The Truffle Mushroom Swiss' with Grilled Chicken and a 'Create Your Own' with Crispy Chicken Breast, Swiss Cheese and Applewood Smoked Bacon. We also ordered a side of their SMASH Fries which are tossed in Italian Olive Oil, Rosemary and Garlic.

In addition to this was a fantastic drinks list which worked hand in hand with their menu. As a craft beer lover I was delighted to see a local beer available and ordered an Electric Bear Brewing Co. ‘Werrrd’ American Pale Ale in a heartbeat. My partner opted for one of their 'Hand-Spun Chocolate Thickshakes' which were exactly as described, the thickest and tastiest Chocolate shake we've ever had!

Our food arrived promptly and with a quick drinks top up we tucked in. Each burger had a great range of flavours which all complimented each other. It was also clear that their choice of ingredients were what sets them apart. With fresh vegetables and thick, creamy cheese, they all combined to build a burger meal with a difference.

The ‘Classic SMASH Cheeseburger’ was an authentic American inspired burger with tasty beef and perfect accompaniments. ‘The Truffle Mushroom Swiss with grilled Chicken’ was a great addition to the menu, with fresh Mushrooms, juicy grilled chicken and creamy swiss cheese, this burger was something different that I would go back to again and again. Our ‘Create Your Own’ was equally as good, with recommendations from our waiter who knew his menu, we tucked in to this again, perfectly balanced burger. Finally, to top this already perfect meal off, the SMASH Fries were a great side to compliment our already tasty meal, with Rosemary and Garlic always a winner for us we were not disappointed and couldn’t stop tucking in throughout our delicious meal.

Smashburger is a great addition to Bath’s thriving restaurant scene and with their attentive staff and tasty, diverse menu I can see people coming back again and again to try what they have to offer, I know we certainly will! I would like to thank all the staff at Smashburger for inviting us to come and experience the restaurant for the first time and look forward to seeing you all again soon!
