TGt Meets... Stephanie at In a Pickle
We spoke to Stephanie from In a Pickle all about her win of Best Local Condiment at The Bath Good Food Awards 2016.
Congratulations on your win! Tell us a little bit about your business?
We are in our fourth year of trading, making pickles, jams, chutneys and marmalades. I started preserving when I saw my neighbour’s apples on the floor and thought it was such a waste. I then sold them at my sons school fair, and they all sold out so I thought I’ve got something here!
What does winning this award mean for you and your company?
It’s amazing. We won in 2013, but not last year. I was looking at the finalists and they are all such good producers so I was quite surprised, but it’s great! I am very pleased, it’s fantastic exposure.
How are you planning to celebrate your victory?
I wasn’t able to attend, but I went to pick up my plate today and will be putting it proudly on my mantelpiece at home!
How did you get started in the food industry?
I am a trained chef, I went to catering college and have always worked in food.
Business is clearly booming, why do you think so many people visit Bath?
It’s a beautiful place, there’s lots to do and see, lots of restaurants. It’s also got a lot of history.
Bath is foodie heaven…where else in Bath do you like to eat?
I like The Mint Room and Allium. I also like Timbrell’s Yard in Bradford On Avon.
