The A-Z of Eating Out
Joseph Connolly shares his entertaining book, The A-Z of Eating Out, at The Royal Crescent Hotel?s Dower House Restaurant during the Great Bath Feast 2014.
Among the guests appearing in Bath during the Great Bath Feast, best- selling author and restaurant critic Joseph Connolly will be offering his entertaining anecdotes and top tips on eating out, in conversation with Ali Vowles from BBC Points West and BBC Radio Bristol. Speaking over lunch at the Dower House at the Royal Crescent Hotel on Tuesday 21st October, he will share highlights of his witty and indispensable guide to all aspects of eating away from home, the A-Z of Eating Out; an accumulation of guidelines, suggestions, advice and trade secrets gleaned over a lifetime of eating out. A is for All You Can Eat Buffet and Amuse Bouche to Z for Zig-a-zag; staggering home after a fulfilling meal with a little too much Zinfandel. The Mail described his book as “a beautifully produced distillation of his wisdom and experience.”
True to the spirit of the Feast, Connolly relates the simple enjoyment, friendship and personal indulgence which are some eating out.
Connolly is a best-selling author with a dozen novels to his name, alongside 12 works of non-fiction including biographies of P.G.Wodehouse and Jerome K. Jerome.
From All-you-can-eat buffets to Liquid Lunches and Wine Lists, the book is packed with humorous anecdotes relating to the several ups and occasional downs of eating out. Joseph’s tips, and insider knowledge help everyone get the most out of their dining experience. He will discuss the pleasures of dining with top chefs, as well as the pitfalls surrounding going Dutch, inedibilia and dress codes. The rules of good etiquette, which Joseph confesses are both “a minefield” and “limitless”, will be made clear, as well as what good service is...and isn’t.
Chef David Campbell will be preparing a wonderful two course lunch for the event incorporating seasonal ingredients which will be served with a glass of wine followed by coffee. The event is priced at £35 per person which includes a two course lunch, a glass of wine on arrival and with lunch and tea or coffee. For reservations please call 01225 823333 or email [email protected] stating how many people are in your party and any dietary preferences.
Topping and Co. will be on hand to arrange the book signing as part of their packed Autumn Book Festival which includes many events with a foodie bias for the Great Bath Feast.
