Bath Preservation Trust introduces new creative learning programme for adults

Bath Preservation Trust is delighted to announce a new programme of creative classes and workshops for adults across its museums.

The workshops, all of which are led by local artists and facilitators, are designed to encourage learning and engagement with people in and around the city.

The first set of new workshops will take place at No.1 Royal Crescent and can be booked directly through the museum’s website. Concessions are available.

Priced competitively, the workshops will include all materials and resources to make attending as accessible as possible. The workshops cover a broad range of creative skills:

  • Drawing the Buildings of Bath with Duncan Harper. Monday 29th April – 2pm-5pm – bookable now.
  • Acrylic Flower Painting with landscape artist Fi Smith. Friday 10th May – 6pm-8pm – bookable now.
  • Creative Mending with artist Anna Chapman-Andrews. Friday 24th May – 7pm-9pm – bookable now.
  • Creative Embroidery with visual artist Karen Woodfield. Monday 10th June – 6pm-8pm – bookable now.

Ellie Giles, Learning and Engagement Officer at Bath Preservation Trust says: “Our children’s learning and engagement programme is well-established, with active outreach and school trips all year round. We feel that adult learning and development is also very important, and we hope that this new programme will inspire people to try something new and perhaps discover a new passion.”

Patrizia Ribul, Director of Museums at Bath Preservation Trust says: “We are looking forward to working with local artists and using the spaces in our museums as a hub to foster creative learning. Loneliness and isolation in adults is extremely common, something which only seems to have increased during the pandemic, and workshops such as these can be a great way to meet like-minded people and make new friends. As a Bath-based charity it was important to us to work with local experts and we are really pleased to have connected with some of the city’s most talented artists. We are striving to make these workshops as accessible as possible in line with our organisational objectives around inclusion, and welcome access requests and comments to the email address [email protected].”

In addition to its own programme of events, Bath Preservation Trust is also able to cater for privately arranged workshops and events, with dedicated activity spaces and other areas of its museums available for hire.

Bath Preservation Trust continues to develop its programme of adult workshops; if you are an artist and have an exciting proposal for a workshop please contact [email protected].
