Bath Racecourse is preparing for the arrival of thousands of racegoers for its first race of the season, which will also be its first ever Good Friday meeting, complete with a record breaking prize pot of £175,000 for the track.

The team at the Racecourse have been excitedly planning and preparing for this occasion for six months to ensure the course is in the best condition, and the very best food, drink and entertainment is on offer to get the season off to a great start. This will be the first full season with the completed new facilities at the Racecourse.

Speaking about the first meeting of the 2017 season, Marketing Manager Maddie Difazio-Wright said “We've never had a Good Friday meeting before and it's a huge honour for us. We've got £175,000 in prize money, and it's going to be an amazing atmosphere when we open those gates. We've got so much organised for race enthusiasts as well as families, and lots of activities for children. There's something for everybody.”

The feature race will be the £60,000 Bathwick Tyres Handicap Stakes for three year olds run over 1m 3f, with the Dribuild Group Handicap Stakes for 4 year olds and upwards worth £50,000. After receiving strong entries, the first race has also been divided, so there will a total of eight races taking place.

The racecourse is keen for the day to appeal not only to racing fans but also families and groups of friends looking to celebrate the start of the long Easter weekend. Accordingly, the day is set to feature lots of free Easter-themed activities for children, who gain free entry when accompanied by an adult, along with live music, entertainment, bars and food stalls.

Advance tickets are available until midnight on Thursday 13th April. Alternatively, tickets are available on the day from £15 for a Centre Course ticket and £25 for Grandstand tickets.
