Pattern Talks
A day celebrating pattern hosted by Bath School of Art and Design during Bath in Fashion.
Celebrate ‘Pattern’ with Bath School of Art and Design! We have a fantastic day planned with talks from Fashion Designer Joe Richards in conversation with Elaine Uttley from the Fashion Museum, Mark Eley from Eley Kishimoto exploring ‘Pattern as Life’, Liv Taylor from PATTERNITY looking at pattern all around us, and Rhonda Drakeford from Darkroom discussing her passion for pattern.
Come for individual talks or stay for the whole day and join Bath School of Art and Design for a packed lunch plus a tour of our textile studios full of pattern.
At Bath School of Art and Design, they believe in individuals, and aim to provide the space and time for people to think and do. Horizons are expanded and knowledge deepens through exploration in ideas, materials, experimentation in process and engagement with the Creative Industries. They value skills developed from research, observation and drawing, so we have the equipment and facilities to develop these skills through hand and digital processes to successful creative outputs.
The School is mainly based at the Sion Hill campus of Bath Spa University, in the centre of Bath. It has exceptional views across the city and provides workshops, studios, seminar rooms, a lecture theatre and specialist library. No 4 The Circus and Palace Yard Mews are home to Fashion, just a short distance from the Fashion Museum. Additional artist studios are located at Dartmouth Avenue in the city’s student quarter, and research facilities are available at the very impressive setting of Corsham Court, Wiltshire.
Originally founded as the Bath School of Art in 1852, the School moved to Corsham Court in 1946 and was renamed Bath Academy of Art. Here the presence of tutors and visiting artists such as Gillian Ayres, Jim Dine, Terry Frost, Howard Hodgkin and Michael Craig-Martin resulted in the Academy receiving national and international recognition. The Academy returned to Bath in the 1980s and became Bath School of Art and Design. Today we treasure our heritage and inspirational setting whilst maintaining our reputation as a leading place to study art and design.
