Planning the perfect Christmas party… The season of goodwill will shortly be upon us, and so most of us will be turning our thoughts to the festive period and planning how best to celebrate.

For those of you tasked with organising the annual escapade of planned debauchery that is the work Christmas party this can be an even more daunting prospect – but fear not! Sub 13 have got a few pointers…

No 1: Food

Given what will likely occur it is as well that you plan a decent meal for your colleagues. Whether it is a quick buffet in the office before you set off (try Eat5Star or Woods Restaurant) or a restaurant affair (Côte Brasserie or Clayton’s Kitchen get our vote here) eating is definitely not cheating!

No 2: Entertainment

Instead of the usual bar crawl, why not try your hand at something a bit different with the team? Cupcake making (think Great British Bake Off) is increasingly popular – try Coffee @ Camden or The Bath Cake Company. You might also consider a cocktail masterclass. At Sub 13, they offer these from 12 noon daily and can cater for groups up to 30. They try to keep it light hearted, and you will definitely get a few drinks, but also pick up a few tips on how to make some of your favourite cocktails. No 3: Drinking

We have all been there, seeing the colleague who doesn’t drink for the other 364 days of the year finally letting their hair down – no Christmas party would be the same without a good old-fashioned knees up… Luckily in Bath we are spoiled for choice: Circo, Vino Vino, Be at One, new boys Framptons, The Canary and the Hideout are all great for cocktails. Mind you, we would be lying if we didn’t mention Sub 13 too! Sub 13 also have a soft spot for our good friends and neighbours the Common Room!

You can reserve an area for your team, and with a chilled out atmosphere during the week, building to the crescendo that is Friday Night Disco with the fantastic Xtopher on the decks – we guarantee you a memorable night. No. 4: Recovery

Whether any productive work is expected the following day or not, you can’t beat a good breakfast to get you back in the zone. We recommend the lovely Same Same, or if you can’t face the full English, Chandos Deli can be relied upon to set you straight with coffee and pastries!
