Review: Family Fun at Bath Racecourse
With the long Bank Holiday weekend ahead of us, we sent our Business Development Manager, Hayley, plus her lovely young family to experience all the fun of a Good Friday at the races! Read on to see what they made of it all...
Bath Racecourse's Good Friday Racing certainly had something for people of all ages, which was fantastic news for me and my young family. We were welcomed at the gate, which was easily accessible for pushchairs, and parking was totally stress-free with plenty of stewards on hand to direct us through the gate.
As soon as you walk through the gates, we were immediately in the heart of the fun. On the left-hand side was heaven for all tea and coffee lovers; they had their own café which was right next to the live music stage, which had a fabulous band on doing classic rock 'n' roll covers.
Food stalls were placed on every corner and the variety would please even the fussiest of eaters. BBQ Grills, pizza, fish and chips, pasties, sausage rolls, noodles and chicken wraps. A wide selection of alcoholic drinks where available, from draught beers and lagers to Pimms! The double decker bus bar was fabulous.
The kids were in heaven as there was ice cream, animals, pony rides, face painters, bouncy castles, trampolines, outdoor games as well as the characters from Alice in Wonderland. There was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the atmosphere with tables and chairs ready for the family to enjoy the day.
The Grandstand was teeming with activity as everyone eagerly waited for the races to begin. Although the weather wasn’t the greatest, it wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits as there was plenty of exciting racing to watch to entertain the crowds. There were plenty of opportunities for the veteran race-goers to place their bets, while those of us who had never attended this sort of event were catered for with courtesy and patience.
The organisation of the day was fantastic, which was important considering the large numbers of people and families in attendence. An accident on the road made access and exit difficult later on in the day, but the staff at Bath Racecourse handled it incredibly well.
I'd definitely recommend a trip to the races as they really go have something for everyone. From groups going along for a few drinks to families like ours who just want to go and experience something a little different. Thanks Bath Raceourse, we'll definitely be back!
