Review: The Nest
Over the coming months, local filmmaker Henry Heffer will be hanging out in and reviewing some of Bath's trendiest pubs, clubs and bars. This month, Henry stopped by live music venue The Nest, read on to find out what he thought...
This young and trendy pub/club is perched at the end of The Paragon, in Bath’s city centre. The top floor is awash with band posters, splintered wood and candle light. where as the bottom exists in a state of neon light and blearing sound. The Nest has attempted to recapture the vibrant and creative Bath of the 1960’s where artists, musicians and writers would congregate and discuss in loud voices, the views and opinions of the day. Although the modern equivalent of this is having a Wifi connection, the locals are still willing to venture out doors and speak to people, which makes for a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
This scene has had a massive resurgence in the last few years with the creativity industry becoming Bath most lucrative export. However, with this being a fledgling resurgence that has now overpopulated the creative positions in Bath, The Nest is very much an aspirational meeting place.
Live music is The Nest’s bred and butter and is well liked by Bath’s bustling music industry. Most of the up and coming talent (as well as the more established acts) are always frequenting it’s downstairs stage. In a single week expect Indie rock, Uk Grime, Hippy strings and Acid Jazz, as well as Album and single launches from Bath’s most exciting talent. Open till late every night, just look for the twinkling lights at the end of The Paragon.
