Snapped: Bath Abbey Advent Service 2014

Bath Abbey's annual advent service has always been, without fail, a popular event, and this year's was no different. Sunday the 7th of December saw the Abbey, in all of its glory, host this popular festive event. TGtB was present to enjoy the choral festivities...

Over 1,000 people gathered at Bath Abbey on Sunday evening, between 6.30pm and 7.45pm, for their annual Advent Procession. With music from the Abbey’s much loved Choir, readings and hundreds of candles, this special service is one of the Abbey’s most popular events in its calendar and marks the start of Advent.

Rector of Bath Abbey, Edward Mason, said: “Between now and Christmas, we’ll have over 40 different carol services and concerts here at the Abbey. The combination of services, rehearsals and the relatively small space of the Abbey makes it very busy. However, we try to make each service special. Christmas provides plenty of opportunity for genuine community spirit based on generosity, giving and receiving.”’
