Take a Half-Term Screen Break With These Bath Treasure Trails

What with working from home, kids being taught virtually, and Netflix beckoning, we’re all looking for ways to keep active, entertained, and reduce our screen time during lockdown 3.0.

Treasure Trails offer all three in one, and are a fantastic way to get outside with your household, get your steps up, and keep kids – and adults – entertained this February half-term in Bath.

These themed self-guided walking Trail booklets (only £9.99 each) take explorers on a circular outdoor route of approximately two miles. En route, you have the added challenge of working together to hunt down clues and solve a puzzling Detective Mystery, Treasure Hunt, or Spy Mission.

Whilst you catch crooks and track down spies or hidden treasure, Treasure Trails showcase your local surroundings in a fun and adventurous new light. Each puzzle incorporates clues on local landmarks, signs, statues, monuments, images, engravings, and other eye-catching features.

There are more than 1,200 Treasure Trails across the UK – and three to choose from in Bath:

Bath Cake-tastrophe (Spy Mission) – 2 hours, 2 miles

Solve a series of clues among 18th-century Georgian architecture and follow the Trail to majestic Bath Abbey to crack the code and unlock the secret files.

Bath Mystery (Detective Mystery) – 2 hours, 2.2 miles

Who committed this dastardly crime? To solve the case, hunt high and low through Bath’s Georgian streets, passing grand townhouses on the Royal Crescent, through lush gardens to the famous Roman Baths.

Bath Treasure (Treasure Hunt) – 2 hours, 2.25 miles

Hunt along Bath’s ancient cobbled streets, across the rippling river, and visit famous landmarks to crack the clues to reach a sparkling treasure trove.

Treasure Trails are a great solution to responsible entertainment during lockdown; they are local, socially-distanced, and can be incorporated into your daily exercise. Plus, anyone of any age can enjoy them – they’re not just for kids!

“A Treasure Trail is a fun and challenging activity which can be enjoyed with your household, with the benefit of getting outside in the fresh air and discovering something completely new about Bath,” said Aaron Hutchens, General Manager of Treasure Trails.

Treasure Trails are available to buy online at treasuretrails.co.uk; they can be downloaded as a printable PDF or posted as a printed booklet.

What people are saying about Treasure Trails:

“A really good morning's exercise… One of the few things you can still do with Covid restrictions! We will definitely do more in future.”
