Fashion Museum Bath

The Fashion Museum Bath is a world-class collection of contemporary and historical dress.

Located at the city’s historic Assembly Rooms, the Fashion Museum Bath is just a stone’s throw from other 18th century architectural gems such as The Circus and Royal Crescent.

The Museum houses an outstanding collection of more than 30,000 objects worn by men, women and children dating from the late 16th century to the present day.

The displays in the museum itself chronicle the story of fashionable dress over the past 400 years and feature more than 120 dressed figures.

Full interpretation is provided in 12 languages (English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish) via hand held audioguides available to everyone at no extra cost. 

The Fashion Museum was founded as The Museum of Costume in 1963 by Bath City Council when designer, collector and historian Doris Langley Moore gave her private collection of fashionable dress to the City of Bath.

It now receives more than 100,000 visitors a year and is one of the most visited heritage attractions in Bath & North East Somerset.
