Bath Christmas Market Cancelled for 2021

Bath Christmas Market has been cancelled for the second consecutive year with organisers sighting issues caused by Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic as the main reasons for the decision.

Having recently published stall holder application forms, the news comes as a surprise to many with it appearing that Bath Christmas Market would once again be returning to the streets of the wonderful city this year.

However, it was confirmed today in a statement from the organisers that the event would no longer be taking place.

The announcement comes as a blow to many of Bath’s businesses with the festive event typically attracting over 400,000 visitors to the city over the Christmas period.

In a statement published on their website, Bath Christmas Market said:

"To our wonderful visitors and supporters,

We are so sad to announce that the Bath Christmas Market we know and love will not be going ahead this year.

The safe-running of the Market has, and always will be, our number one priority and this requires a significant number of security and logistics staff.

The knock-on effect of Brexit and COVID-19 have caused a national recruitment crisis in this field and therefore, Bath & North East Somerset has taken the decision to reshape Christmas in Bath for this year.

For this reason, we are unable to move forward with Bath Christmas Market as originally planned. We will be hoping to announce some festive activities in the coming weeks.

You will still be able to get your festive favourites from our stallholders and throughout November and December, our website will be transformed to shine a spotlight on all the Artisans that would have been showcasing their skills during the Market.
