Bath Half General Entries Sell Out in Record Time

General entries to the Bath Half Marathon 2018 have now sold out five weeks earlier than in previous years. Bath Half Race Director, Andrew Taylor believes that while it is hard to attribute the record sell out to one specific cause, it is the crowd and community support at the Bath Half which is making the race increasingly popular with runners.

He said “Each year we conduct a post-race runners survey and both the atmosphere and fantastic local crowd support are mentioned as key reasons why runners will recommend to friends or family to run the race.  We do have a lot of first timers but we have a higher number of repeat runners who are looking for PB times, which on a fast flat course like ours is really achievable.  Add this to the fact that our race is uniquely set in a beautiful City may also help explain why we are selling out earlier and earlier each year.  In 2014, we sold out in December, to sell out before the October half term is incredible.”

While the general entries make up 70% of the 15,000 runner places there is still an opportunity for anyone who would like to obtain an entry to run for one of the official race charities.

“There are still places available for those willing to raise funds for charities.  Our lead charity this year is Alzheimer’s Society and we have 130 other official race charities including many Bath-based local charities with places that you can find out about on our website.  But don’t delay as many of those charities are also reporting high demand for their places this year.”

The Bath Half Marathon 2018 takes place on Sunday 4th March. General Entries are now sold out.  To register to run for a charity please visit www.bathhalf.co.uk.
