Battle of the Bands Launches from Running High Events
The organisers of the Vitality Bath Half Marathon have made an exciting announcement for 2016. This year, Running High Events are launching a Battle of the Bands competition.
Bands, groups, choirs and singers are encouraged to get in touch and apply for the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of the 15,000 runners as well as the spectators and residents on Sunday 13th March 2016. The runners will vote for their favourites after the race, and the winner of the 2016 Battle of the Bands wins £500 and a chance to play on BBC Radio.
The inaugural Battle of the Bands competition took place at the 2015 race and was hailed a huge success by everyone, creating a true carnival atmosphere on race day and keeping the runners motivated around the course. The number of bands will go up from six to eight in 2016.
Dave Box, Battle of the Bands Co-Ordinator, said: “We are pleased to bring the Battle of the Bands competition back for the 2016 Vitality BATHALF, and to confirm that applications are now open.
“The BATHALF Battle of the Bands is a great opportunity for local bands, groups and singers to showcase their talent, with a view to play live at the BBC as well as being awarded a £500 cheque. Being selected for one of the eight spots will also generate some great media coverage.
“We are looking for a diversity of musicians, singers, groups, bands, choirs – you name it, we will consider it! We are expecting a lot of applications so make sure you get in touch ASAP.”
Anyone interested in being considered needs to apply by contacting Dave Box by email at [email protected] with details about themselves and any links to their music or songs. The application deadline is 31st October 2015.
The Vitality Bath Half Marathon is one of the most iconic and longest established races on the running calendar and sees participants run through the heart of Bath, which is the only city in the UK designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO. It is also one of the largest single day charity fundraising running events in the UK.
Entries for the Vitality Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 13th March 2016 are open but selling fast.
