Danny Grewcock to Undertake Gruelling 110km Trek
Former England and Bath Rugby star Danny Grewcock is heading to Sweden this weekend to tackle a gruelling 110km trek in aid of Bath Rugby Foundation.
The Fjällräven Classic, which takes place 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, is an annual trekking competition organised by the outdoor equipment specialist Fjällräven which sees competitors from over 20 countries attempt to finish the course in less than 2.5 days.
Having previously undertaken a fundraising cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End on behalf of Bath Rugby Foundation, Grewcock wanted to undertake a different form of physical challenge.
The Fjällräven Classic trek takes place high in the mountains of Swedish Lapland and requires Danny to carry his own equipment and sleep in a tent certainly meets this requirement. D
anny and his walking partner Julian Mack, CEO of Threshold Sports, will start their one hundred and ten kilometres in the Sami village of Nikkaluokta and end in Abisko.
The trek is through one of the most beautiful mountain regions in the world and travels 110 km along the classic hiking trail Kungsleden, passing through breath-taking mountainous regions and lush, green valleys.
Grewcock commented “I’m looking forward to the challenge and experiencing the beautiful scenery of Sweden, I am just hoping that this will distract me from the inevitable blisters!”
Bath Rugby Foundation is delighted that Danny has agreed to donate any sponsorship money raised to the Foundation.
