Double the difference! Children’s charity Jessie May takes part in The Big Give match-funding week
Donations to Jessie May will be doubled for seven days in November!
Children’s charity Jessie May is urging supporters to donate during The Big Give Christmas Challenge week in November, when every penny donated to the children’s charity will be doubled.
The charity, whose nurses support terminally ill children across Bath and beyond, is taking part in The Big Give national match-funding campaign between November 27th and December 4th, to raise enough money to welcome 11 additional life limited children to their services.
During the campaign week, supporters have the opportunity to have their donation doubled on theBigGive.co.uk. It will cost the charity £23,100 to provide 11 new families with vital respite support from its nurses, as well as emotional support, all given in the comfort of families’ homes.
Julian Withers, Head of Fundraising and Communications at Jessie May, said: “Preparing for The Big Give Christmas Challenge has been an exciting process so far! We rallied to find Pledgers to create our matching pot; this will be used during the week itself to double supporters’ donations.
“We have successfully raised £5,775 in pledges, and a further £5,250 from our ‘Champion Pledger’, Candis magazine, all of which we are hugely grateful for. All our Pledgers will only pay out if we raise enough money to match their pledge - so during The Big Give week we need as many people as possible to give what they can!
“From midday on November 27th – which is Giving Tuesday – every penny donated through theBigGive.org.uk to Jessie May will be doubled. It’s imperative we can raise these vital funds and address the unmet need of local families. We know there are families caring for a terminally ill child in our operating area who are not receiving our respite and bereavement care, and this campaign offers to give us a vital boost in funding – if our supporters can donate during the 7 days.
“So please save the date and get ready to give little – or big! – for Jessie May. When the clock strikes 12 you can literally make double the difference.”
Donations to the charity will be doubled from midday Tuesday 27th November to midday Tuesday 4th December. Donations must be submitted on the Jessie May profile at theBigGive.org.uk in order to be doubled.
Jessie May offers terminally ill children and their families regular respite and palliative care throughout a child’s illness and bereavement support for up to 5 years after a child’s death. The charity’s nurses provide this support throughout Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset.
The Christmas Challenge, founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Alec Reed CBE, is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign. Since the Big Give launched the campaign in 2008, the Christmas Challenge has raised over £90 million for thousands of charity projects.
