General Public Entries Sell Out Early for 2017 Vitality Bath Half Marathon
Running High Events, organisers of the Vitality Bath Half Marathon, have announced that general public entries have sold out for the 2017 race which takes place on Sunday 12th March.
The award-winning race, which welcomes 15,000 runners to the streets of Bath each spring, has sold out one month earlier than it did last year, with just under four months to go until race day still.
The early sell out of the Vitality Bath Half Marathon is owed to its ever-growing popularity as one of the best organised, longest established and most iconic city centre road races in the UK. It is also down to the increased number of places pre-booked by charities, with a record 35% of entries reserved for the official race charities in 2017.
This does mean that those still wishing to take part in the Vitality Bath Half can do so by running for one of the race’s 130 official charity partners. Some charities still have places available, including Lead Charity Cancer Research UK. Anyone wishing to run should go to www.bathhalf.co.uk/charities/list-of-charities for a list of all the 2017 charities, and contact their chosen charity’s events team directly.
There are also a few entries remaining in the Corporate Challenge for business teams, which offers a unique team building experience as well as a fantastic fundraising opportunity for businesses of all sizes and their guests, although these are expected to sell out shortly too.
Entries are also now open for the Family Fun Run. This one-mile race is always a highlight of race day and allows runners of all ages and abilities to be involved in a big sporting event. Like the half marathon, the Family Fun Run starts and finishes in Great Pulteney Street, in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Bath. Family Fun Run participants are encouraged to raise money for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens, the official Family Fun Run Charity.
Race Director Andrew Taylor commented, “We are very proud to announce that general places have sold out for the 2017 Vitality Bath Half Marathon, this is the eighteenth successive year the race has sold out. It is a huge credit to the race that it increases in popularity year on year, and we are looking forward to welcoming plenty of returning runners as well as first time runners to the event next March.
“We expect the remaining Corporate Challenge and charity places to be snapped up fast, so I would urge anyone interested in running to register as soon as possible. With less than four months to go, we wish all our runners the best of luck with their winter training and we look forward to seeing them on the start line in the spring.”
The significant representation of charities has made the Vitality Bath Half one of the top three single day charity fundraising events in the UK and a fantastic platform for charity fundraising. The event raised over £2.2 million at the 2016 race alone for numerous national and local charities.
The event is one of the most popular road racing events in the UK, its two-lap course renowned for its brilliant atmosphere and for being fast and flat, ideal for athletes of all levels including beginners and charity runners. Each year the race attracts a strong British elite field and a large number of celebrities who are attracted by the stunning setting, fantastic crowd support and the promise of a good finishing time.
Cancer Research UK is the Lead Charity for 2017, with Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens the official Family Fun Run Charity and Dorothy House Hospice Care the official Local Charity.
