Hastings leads Bath Rugby for Singha 7s
Bath Rugby Academy and Scotland U18s fly-half Adam Hastings will lead the Singha 7s squad this Thursday as Bath contest the pool stages at Kingsholm.
Hastings is joined in the side by fellow Bath Academy new-boys Darren Atkins and Zach Mercer, who have both just returned from the England U19s tour of South Africa. Bath U18s Josh Bayliss and Owen Walters, and Bristol University student Jack Maplesden will also feature.
The squad, coached by Bath Rugby Academy coaches Barry Maddocks and George Tavner, may be a youthful one, but it is packed with 7s experience.
Bath University student Alex Humfries has played for Wales 7s, whilst Apolosi Sokia, Scott Watkins and Siva Naulago are all British Army 7s representatives.
Rob Coote and Alex O’Meara, who are both part of the Cornish Pirates Player Development Foundation, have both represented Great Britain Students at 7s.
“This is a great opportunity for some of our young talent to put on the Bath shirt and represent the Club at Kingsholm and they are really looking forward to it,” said Maddocks.
“Last season, the likes of Max Clark, Will Homer and Rory Jennings all played in the 7s and went on to make their Bath senior debuts and represent England U20s this summer, so it provides a good chance to impress.”
Bath will kick-off in the second game of the evening against London Irish at 19.40.
