National Trust Properties in and around Bath

The National Trust is fantastic for the community; preserving all those beautiful old buildings, gardens and estates for the public to see. Luckily, there are hundreds of NT properties all around the UK. But where are the ones in and around Bath located? We reveal all...

1. Prior Park 

Prior Park is the most centralised National Trust Park to Bath of the list, and it truly is a hidden gem. It's a beautiful and intimate 18th century landscape garden, created by Ralph Allen with landscaping advice from Capability Brown, one of the most famous and much loved landscapers in that time. 2. Bath Skyline 

Bath Skyline is worth a visit simply just for the view. Situated on a hill south of the city, Bath Skyline offers stunning 360 views across the entire city, so is perfect for photography, There are six miles of footpaths, so whether you fancy a quick 1/2 mile stroll or an intense 6 miles, there's something to suit everyone. Discover hidden valleys, rich in limestone flowers and tranquil beech woodlands. 3. Bath Assembly Rooms 

The Assembly Rooms were at the heart of fashionable Georgian society, the perfect venue for entertainment. When completed in 1771, they were described as 'the most noble and elegant of any in the kingdom'. The elegance of the public rooms will have you in awe as you learn the fascinating history of the rooms. There is also a cafe and gift shop to visit afterwards! 4. Dyrham Park 

Although slightly out of Bath, Dyrham Park is a big and highly visited one in the National Trust world. With expansive ancient parkland, a beautiful 17th century house and garden and so many extra features dotted around the park, you're spoilt for choice and will need a day to explore the whole estate. Remember to have a peek at the church next to the site, admire the seasonal flowers to the rear of the property and finish it off with a coffee in the tea room!  Click here to learn more about Dyrham Park.

5. Westwood Manor 

This beautiful 15th century manor house, which is based just outside of Bradford on Avon, has late Gothic and Jacobean windows, decorative plasterwork and two important keyboard instruments. There is some fine period furniture, seventeenth and eighteenth century tapestries and a modern topiary garden. It's definitely worth exploring! 6. Great Chalfield Manor 

Great Chalfield Manor, based just 3 miles away from Bradford on Avon, is a charming 15th century manor house with the most stunning National Trust garden we've seen (in our opinion!). There's so much to see and do, including a walk around the stunning lake and informal gardens, a guided tour of the house (which is still fully furnished!) and so much more! 7. The Courts Garden 

The Courts Garden is a delightful, typical English country style garden full of variety in Holt. Peaceful water gardens and herbaceous borders, with organically shaped topiary, demonstrate an imaginative use of colour and planting, creating unexpected vistas.
