Plans unveiled to transform Bath’s Queen Square

Bath’s Queen Square could see a major transformation under new proposals from Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The plans aim to enhance the historic public space with improved pathways, landscaping, and facilities for public events.

The proposed improvements include:

    •    New pathways with defined edges

    •    Planting to boost biodiversity

    •    Group seating areas

    •    Enhanced boules courts

    •    Additional bins and benches

    •    Designated spaces for food and drink vans with electric and water points for events

    •    Improved wayfinding to and from Charlotte Street car park

    •    Better signage to key city landmarks

The council believes these changes will build on existing improvements, such as better air quality resulting from Bath’s Clean Air Zone and recent upgrades to footways. The enhancements are also intended to make the square more accessible and better suited to hosting events.

Local residents and businesses are being invited to share their views on the proposals. Two drop-in sessions will be held at Queen Square on Friday, November 29, and Wednesday, December 4, from 12pm to 2pm, where attendees can learn more about the plans and provide feedback.
