Raceday Raises £10,000 For RUH Forever Friends Appeal

Wednesday 3rd September saw guests of Excalibur's Charity raceday at Bath Racecourse help raise over £10,000 for The Forever Friends Appeal, the official charity of Bath's Royal United Hospital.

The event was arranged by Swindon based Excalibur Communications who've committed to raising £50,000 towards a new Cancer Centre for the hospital, which has been chosen as their official charity for 2014. As part of the event, Excalibur Communications sponsored four of the day’s races, and hosted a charity lunch for 130 guests, featuring a fundraising raffle and auction.

In support of the event, a cheque for £5,000 was presented to the appeal from the Reuben Foundation; the official charitable foundation of the Reuben Brothers, owners of Arena Racing Company (ARC) and Bath Racecourse. 

Jo Hall, Executive Director of Bath Racecourse who made the presentation on behalf of the Reuben Foundation said: “The Reuben Foundation were delighted to support today’s Excalibur Charity raceday event by making a donation to the Forever Friends Appeal; a local charity which is close to the hearts of many. It is fantastic news that Excalibur are committed to raising such a significant sum of money for them in 2014 and we are delighted that today’s raceday was part of their fundraising efforts.”

James Phipps, Chief Executive of Excalibur said: ““We were thrilled to host a race day specifically for this fantastic cause. It was a very successful day and we are getting ever closer to our £50,000 target for this year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Bath Racecourse, the Reuben Foundation and all our guests for attending and supporting our chosen charity.”

The Forever Friends Appeal's Corporate Officer, Jo Common added “It was a wonderful day of racing and fundraising!  All the funds raised will be going towards the teenage and young adult facilities in the new Cancer Centre here at the RUH. We would therefore like to say a heartfelt thank you to Excalibur for their passion and dedication to fundraising for our cause, to Bath Racecourse and the Reuben Foundation for making such a generous donation to the day’s fundraising and to everyone who attended the Race Day and helped Excalibur reach this incredible £10,000 total!”
