Review: Thermae Bath Spa Inner Strength

We sent our Beauty Editor Emily Griffin along to the Thermae Bath Spa to enjoy one of their new Aromatherapy Associates treatments. Here's how she got on...

When the Thermae Bath Spa invited me down to enjoy one of their new treatments with the luxurious Aromatherapy Associates products, I could hardly contain my excitement.

An afternoon of pampering in one of the countrys top spas, how could I resist?

Aromatherapy Associates are a well-known British brand with over 30 years specialising in the natural healing powers of the finest essential oils. The award winning quality of the products used, and the time and energy that goes into their therapists training makes for an incredible treatment experience.

The Thermae Bath Spa opened its doors in to the public in August 2006 and has since built a reputation as one of country’s favourite day spas. Steeped in history, the famous hot springs of Bath have been a sanctuary of rest and relaxation since the Roman era.

I have been to the Thermae Bath Spa many times before but have never ventured into their treatment rooms. For my first visit, my treatment of choice was the luxury Inner Strength massage which promises to deliver a tranquil sense of peace and relaxation.

I arrived at the treatment area of the spa, which is separate from the hustle and bustle of the bathing pools. I was greeted by my therapist Aneta who was immaculately presented and really friendly and welcoming – exactly what you’d hope for.  She led me through to my treatment room, and went over each step with me. She was very thorough and explained every aspect of the 90 minute treatment - and made sure I had no health concerns or allergies.

The room was restful and calming. I was given a few minutes to get ready whilst Aneta went to get a glass of water for me.

As the massage started I felt myself automatically relax. There was no music playing which at first I found unusual. I haven’t had a massage in silence before, but I soon found myself oblivious to my surroundings and in very peaceful state.

The main part of the treatment is a relaxing massage with Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength oil, which has a unique blend of rose, clary sage, frankincense and cardamom essential oils. The scents were indulgently good and really inspire a sense of peace and positivity. It also contained moisture rich oils like jojoba and peach kernel which leave your skin soft and supple.

Aneta started the treatment by using a body brush on my legs and arms. This helps to exfoliate the skin and improve circulation ready for the treatment. She then cleansed and massaged my palms and hands using a hot cloth which was incredibly soothing. Each step of the treatment was carried out expertly and sent me further and further into pure relaxation.

One part of the treatment involved the application of hot paraffin wax onto pressure points which included my hands and feet. I must say, this was a new experience to me and I really wasnt sure what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised and found it very harmonious with the rest of the treatment.

The leg and back massage was followed by a hot stone placement and a wonderful face and head massage.

Aneta used a selection of facial serums and moisturisers that shed carefully selected for my skin type. This included rose infused products that were perfect for sensitive skin.

The entire treatment was simply blissful. Every aspect, from Anetas professionalism to the actual massage were faultless. I left feeling revived, refreshed and ready to take on the world! Which I didnt, as instead I went and enjoyed a delicious light bite in the spas restaurant. Which was the perfect end to a wonderful afternoon.
