Sérgio Moreira appointed as new General Manager of Abbey Hotel Bath, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel
Bath, UK, 1 August 2022 Sérgio Moreira has been appointed as general manager of Abbey Hotel Bath, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel.
Prior to joining Abbey Hotel Bath, Sergio, who has worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years was deputy general manager at five-star Chewton Glen in the New Forest, and prior to this spent time working across Europe and Canada for notable luxury hotel brands.
Originally from Portugal, Sérgio studied for his BA in hospitality administration and management at Portugal’s popular hotel and tourism school, Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Porto, and started his career in hospitality in 2000 as a chef de rang at the late Gary Rhodes’ popular 1 Michelin star restaurant, Rhodes 24.
Moreira said: “I am very excited to be making the move to live and work in the beautiful historic city of Bath. I’m looking forward to working with the hotel team to take Abbey Hotel Bath forward into an exciting new era.
Bath has changed a lot in the last 5 years, so I am really looking forward to exploring the city and finding out all that it has to offer, as well as being a part of a wider team that is totally committed to growing and developing a sustainable post covid operation.
Becoming part of the team is a wonderful opportunity for me. The quality of the team and location are second to none and I’m thrilled that I can bring my experience at such an exciting time, to deliver a quality hotel experience in Bath.”

Castleforge acquired Abbey Hotel Bath, along with the rights to two adjoining buildings, in February 2022, with plans to add 15 large bedrooms to the hotel in early 2023.
