In order to make the 2013 Special Olympics National Summer Games a fun, successful and memorable affair, event organisers are appealing for volunteers.
The Special Olympics National Summer Games is the country’s largest sports event for athletes with intellectual disabilities and is held every four years.
During the 5 day event, over 500 volunteers are required for catering, hospitality, stewarding and merchandising duties.
The National Summer Games are organised by Special Olympics Britain, a charity that provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in England, Scotland and Wales.
The charity currently serves 8,000 athletes. Over 1.2 million people in Great Britain have an intellectual disability – the largest impairment group that exists.
All volunteers will be required to attend one full day’s training at Bath University plus an additional half day for those assigned to one of the three off-campus venues.
The 9th National Summer Games will be held in the city of Bath from August 28th to September 1st 2013.
The initial closing date for the online registration process is April 30th, to register your details for the event please click here.
