We recommend
The updated proposal reflects feedback from the public, key stakeholders, and B&NES, addressing technical points identified since the initial submission last year.
Key modifications in the amended design include lowering the heights of the West and East Stands, introducing a new curved roof form, enhancing landscaping along the river, redesigning the facades of the East and West Stands, and re-engineering the seating bowl. These changes aim to preserve the unique character of the surrounding area while improving the matchday experience.
The resubmitted plans retain essential elements from the original 2023 application, such as an 18,000-capacity stadium with improved accessibility, contemporary and sensitive design, increased community use with new stadium facilities, regeneration of the riverside including the new Spring Gardens Walk, retention of mature trees with additional landscaping and biodiversity measures, sustainability initiatives targeting net zero operational carbon, and a riverside café/restaurant, club shop, and museum for non-matchday use.
The public consultation period for these proposals is open until Saturday, 8 February 2025. Residents and interested parties are encouraged to review and comment on the plans via the B&NES Council’s planning portal.
