Creating Your Dream Home Office: The 3 S’s
Whether you’re actually a remote worker or whether you just want to be able to tell people that you have this type of room in your house, nothing should stop you from creating your dream home office. Be warned, though, that this isn’t necessarily going to be an easy task. Put it this way; you’re going to have to do more than just buy a nice desk and put it in the room you wish to call your office.
Something else that you should be warned about is the fact that location is paramount when it comes to creating a home office. If you decide to set up your office space in any old area within your home, you won’t be able to create an environment that suits the way you work or gives you the freedom to get on with your daily tasks.
In this instance, you must consider the three S’s: size, sound, and sunlight.
Size
The size of your home office needs to completely depend on what you will be using the space for. Should you be a copywriter, for example, chances are you won’t need as big of an area, as you will only need a chair, a desk, and a computer device to be able to get on with your daily tasks. If you are an artist, however, then you may need a bigger space so that you can spread your work out before and really let your creative juices flow.
Sound
This one depends solely on what type of worker you are. If you’re somebody that cannot deal with noise, then you need to set your home office up in a space that is hidden away from any and all distractions — up in the loft, maybe. If, on the other hand, noise stimulates you and helps you work better, then you could get away with setting up your home office in close proximity to the rest of your family.
Sunlight
Sunlight plays a massive role in productivity. The more natural light there is allowed to shine into your home office, the happier you’ll be and, ultimately, the more motivated you’ll be to work. It’s crucial, then, that you seek to set your home office up on the side of your home that sees the most sunlight during your working hours. Oh, and you’re going to need to have some windows fitted, too.
If you just don’t have the room in your house to create a home office that is perfect with regards to size, sound, and sunlight, then you should get in touch with English Heritage Buildings right away.
They will come to your premises and find the perfect place in which to create your office. If needs be, they’ll renovate a room for you or even build your office from scratch using an oak frame.
When creating your dream home office, it’s imperative that you take size, sound, and sunlight into consideration. Fail to do so, and you’ll be more likely to end up working in a store cupboard rather than a productive office space!
