The proposals have been developed with architects HTA Design, in consultation with local residents and stakeholders. Through a series of design workshops, exhibitions and meetings, local people have contributed their ideas towards the proposals for housing, transport, community facilities and open spaces.
The plans include a number of exciting new green spaces and amenities for the city and the local community, including:
Housing organisation Curo’s CEO Victor da Cunha says:
“This development is a unique opportunity for the local community and for the city – enabling us to develop a new destination for Bath, to build much-needed homes and to invest in the long-term success of Mulberry Park and the surrounding neighbourhoods.”
Feedback from local people shows strong support for the creation of new open spaces, with 86% in favour of the new central green and woodland walk (feedback from attendees to public exhibition, July 2014).
The Exhibition will be held at St Andrew’s Community Church, Hawthorn Grove, from 2pm-6pm on Friday 12th and 10am–1pm on Saturday 13th September and shall give local people the opportunity to view the outline planning proposals before they are submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council (BNESC).
The site was purchased by Curo in 2013, and the regeneration plans propose the development of around 700 private and affordable homes, alongside a range of new facilities and transport links which include a Cable Car into the city centre.
The previous two exhibitions in April and July attracted more than 1,500 local people, and almost 400 filled in feedback forms after viewing the display materials.
Curo is going to submit an outline planning application for Mulberry Park to BNESC in September 2014.
