WebsiteBath in Fashion takes place from 13th April- 21st April, showcasing the City’s fashionable legacy, as a place to be seen. During the week long fashion festival there are many shows and events, showcasing everything fashion. From catwalk shows, street styling and a secret tea party.
“On Sunday, a few wonderful bloggers met up for a Bath in Fashion pre-event. Starting at the stunning Assembly rooms for cream tea and scones, and an introduction to what Bath in Fashion is and what we can all expect for the exciting week in April.
Very keen to get going, and filled up on the sweet delights, we all made our way down to the fashion Museum. We were greeted by the “Fifty Fabulous Frocks” exhibition, which celebrates 50 years of The Fashion Museum in Bath.
The dresses were wonderful, some a little strange, some so stunning I couldn’t help but smile. The exhibits stretched through a number of centuries, showing many different trends and delights, finishing with the gorgeous 2011 Dress of the Year from Sarah Burton (The designer of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress).
We were soon hurried along to begin our “Fashion Tour” of the City, pointing out special or couture shops as we passed. We then found our way to The Makery Emporium, a wonderful little shop that is proud to show how to “make it yourself” or “if it’s broken, it can be mended”. We were in for some creative times, heading upstairs where they hold the parties, we got to a room filled with pretty fabrics and stunning bits & bobs. The time ticked past, and eventually I had a little corsage to show for my hard work; something I was far too proud of for what it was (I am no crafty kitten, unfortunately).
Our third stop was to Bertinet Bakery, a gorgeous little bakery smelling of wonderful baked goodies. Originally starting as a cookery school, it has grown through the City, as well as supplying for many different shops and hotels. All the bloggers got to sample some of the wonderful Macaroons they sell, a first for me, and I can tell you they were delicious. The bakery is so very sweet, and full of wonderful delights to treat yourself at any time while you are visiting Bath.
Soon enough we made our way back to the meeting point, and exchanged what we had been up to with the beauty bloggers. Such a wonderful day we all had, getting to know Bath and the gorgeous shops through its pretty streets was lots of fun. It has got me more than excited for the full Bath in Fashion events, and what we can look forward to come April.”
