Total Guide to Fashion: Winter Fashion 2013 for Men
The TGtB Style Team have been scouring the shops of Bath for all of the latest Winter must haves!
Cord
Cords are a superb replacement for chinos in your wardrobe this fall. Much like Chinos, Cords are extremely versatile and go with virtually anything. Plus they can be dressed up and down depending on the occasion. But, it’s not all about cord on the bottom, Cord shirts are set to massive this season too, and they’ll be perfect for layering – another trend set to be popular when the temperatures take a turn for the worst. Cord tends to look better in darker colours, so aim for burgundies, deep greens and navy blues.
We recommend pairing them with a chambray or denim shirt and gilet combo. A sturdy pair of Vans will finish this urban, street style look off perfectly without looking like too much thought went into it.
We may have just snuck out on our lunch break and picked up this steal from the Swindon Topman, at £30 you can’t really go wrong!
Coloured Jeans
Embrace the bold, don’t a fear it! A pair of coloured jeans is a great way to brighten up your mood as well as your look this fall. Just don’t go overboard, we’re aiming for cool young chap, not Ibiza raver! Sticking to a neutral colour pallet on your top half, should help to avoid this and make the look a whole lot easier for you to pull off. After looking about we’ve noticed that some of the choices on the high street are a little bit out there, so we’d definitely suggest sticking to colours that you’d feel more comfortable in and colours that will go with existing garments in your wardrobe. After all, looking good doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
We think these ‘Slim Fit Red River Island Chinos’ would look great with a grey sweater, denim shirt and navy mackintosh.
Oversizing
Oversizing is a trend that’s slowly been creeping up on us for some time now, so you expect to see it in full swing this Autumn and Winter. This is another tricky one though, you need to get it just right, otherwise you’ll look like you’re wearing your older brother’s hand-me-downs and when has that ever been a good look? Hipsters and street style lovers alike have been showing us how it’s done all summer long, with their effortlessly cool and quirky oversize tee, skinny short combos. For Autumn think Zach Morris circa 1992 (Saved by the Bell) we say aim for a sports luxe look, we suggest wearing an oversize sweatshirt, rolled skinny jeans, low top Nike Blazers and visible socks.
We love this £28 Navy Pattern Rib Sweatshirt from Topman!
The Statement Tee
The best way to make a statement is via your t-shirt. (Ok, so on Twitter or Facebook is probably the best way to make a statement, but you get what we mean..it just sounded cool!) Nearly every retailer on the Bath high street is producing these garish delights and there really is a pattern that’ll suit every guy. Some of team TGtB’s favourite patterns at the moment are camo, animal, dot and Aztec print. We’re also pretty psyched about tees, like this £18 one from Topman that boast an Aztec inspired print detail around the neck. Just like were seen on the runways of London earlier on in the year.
