Opening [today] on Thursday 27th October, the new store means that customers can choose to have their breakfast, lunch or evening meal cooked by chefs, at the same time as popping in for a pint of milk. What’s more, customers don’t even need to leave their house to enjoy the meals as they can have the food delivered to their doorstep via Deliveroo.
In store, customers can choose to watch their meal be made-to-order by the chefs using seasonal ingredients or opt to pick up some of the freshly made ‘ready-to-go’ meals. The menu includes:
As well as the Market Kitchen counters, the store will sell a wide selection of freshly baked bread from the Morrisons Bakery and sweet treats from the Cake Shop. Throughout the store there are also 150 locally sourced products including Bath Ales, Clarence Court Eggs, Thatchers Cider, Appleby’s Somerset Cheese and Emma Country Cakes.
The store hopes to play a key role in the local community and its Community Champion has already been out and about while the store has been under construction. Any community groups looking to introduce themselves to the store should email [email protected].
Karl Money, Morrisons SouthGate Bath Store Manager, said: “The chefs in our Market Kitchen will create delicious seasonal meals for customers that are made to order. It means that customers can pop in and pick up their next meal while also buying the groceries they need for future meals. And, thanks to our partnership with Deliveroo, customers across Bath will be able to enjoy their favourite dishes from our menu without leaving their home.”
Guy Henderson, Centre Director at Southgate Bath, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Morrisons to Southgate Bath. We’re really pleased they have selected us as a Market Kitchen store and that they have a focus on selling locally sourced produce.
“The Market Kitchen will be a great addition to the options we have for shoppers to grab a bite to eat on the go and pick up the essentials they need for later on, and we’re sure it will be a welcome addition to those living in the city and visitors alike.”
The store has been officially opened by The Mayor of Bath, Councillor Rob Appleyard. Prior to the opening, local dignitaries visited the store to meet the store manager and his new team.
Market Kitchen and Morrisons grocery orders can be placed through the Deliveroo app or website and will usually occur at a small delivery charge, however for a limited time only between 7th and 20th November, Morrisons is offering free delivery.
