Website 01225 469061Following the success of last year’s display, this year’s multi-coloured canopy is made from 190 brightly coloured butterflies, providing the perfect photo opportunity for visitors.
The installation will also include a living selfie wall with giant butterfly wings, two large floral butterfly planters, and see the return of the popular rainbow bunting, all which will be revealed in the next couple of weeks.
As part of its ongoing community work, this year’s design has been chosen in support of one of SouthGate Bath’s charity partners, Trauma Breakthrough, which helps adult survivors of trauma and abuse by providing specialist therapy and support, wellbeing services and mental health courses for the public.
Butterflies are a symbol of freedom, and the large floral planters will be fitted with QR codes where visitors can make a small donation to the charity to help support the crucial work it does in the local community.
Guy Henderson, centre director at SouthGate Bath, said: “We’re incredibly excited to reveal this year’s installation. Not only will it bring a smile to those who visit us this summer, it will also help to raise essential funds for our charity partner Trauma Breakthrough.
“Our summer installations always prove really popular with our visitors, and we expect this year’s to be no different. It creates a real spectacle in the city, and contributes to an amazing atmosphere - we can’t wait to see everyone’s photos!”
Giles Lascelle, CEO at Trauma Breakthrough, said: “SouthGate Bath’s installations brighten up the city each summer and we are delighted to be part of it this year.
“We hope that the installation will help to raise awareness of the needs of trauma survivors, and every donation will go towards supporting people across the South West who need support to help them recover from the long-term impact of trauma and abuse.”
The display will be live throughout the summer until September and visitors are encouraged to take photos and share them with @SouthGateBath on Facebook and @southgate_bath on Instagram, using the hashtag #SummerAtSouthGate.
