TGtB Recommends - What to Wear in 2014

We know that its the middle of winter and Summer may seem like a lifetime away but with the New Year comes chic and exciting new trends to try.

We couldn't resist starting to plan our outfits for the year ahead. So here are the 7 most wearable fashion trends to work in 2014...

Let your Clothing do the talking and make a statement in a slogan tee; the trend of plastering words across everything from handbags to leggings continues into SS14. It doesn't really matter what statement you plan on making - just so long as you’re doing it loud and proud. From Topshop to River Island you'll be able to find this trend all over the high street, remember the key to this trend is humour; the wittier, the better.

The simplicity of this next trend is what makes it so genius. Rather than leaving the top few buttons of your shirt or blouse undone, reverse the process - buttoning up the top and leaving the bottom to hang loose. If you're worried about bearing your midriff, fear not, you don't have to expose your belly button to the world and his wife; combat this by layering up with a t-shirt or jacket.

Embrace your inner cowgirl and transform yourself into a sexy southern belle by integrating slouchy denims, plaid shirts and dusty cowgirl boots into your everyday look. This trend is about subtly merging key western pieces into your day to day wardrobe. Think dungarees and heels or low-slung oversized belts and slinky dresses. Remember less is more - Jessie from Toy Story shouldn't be your doppelganger.

The Great Gatsby has played a humungous role in the 1920s fashion revival that we've seen over the last 6 months and it shows no signs of slowing down in 2014. Elaborated upon and modernised - fringed dresses are set to become the look of choice for fashionistas come the summer months. An extremely versatile trend; fringing and tassels will look great dressed up or dressed down.

If the latter end of 2013 has shown us anything, it's that feathers can be worn tastefully. No longer deemed flamboyant or garish, feathered accessories are popping up left, right, and centre, while more and more clothing is featuring feather trims. To avoid unflattering Big Bird comparisons, make sure that you choose neutral coloured feathers. Feather-trimmed collars or hems are ideal ways to ease yourself into this trend.

When it comes to which shades will be the height of cool in 2014, the combination of black and white is proving its staying power, while crisp pastels and shades of pink are also set to dominate our summer wardrobes.

Celebs like Dakota Fanning and Ellie Goulding are already huge fans of this look. Sexy see-through fabrics and peek-a-boo lace details on skirts are tipped to be one of the most popular and practical trends of 2014. Whether you’re daring enough to show full leg or you'd prefer to reveal just a flash of flesh, there are a number of ways to pull off the look.
