45,000 Ticket Mark Surpassed for The Clash
With just under 50 days to go, Bath Rugby has surpassed the 45,000 ticket mark for The Clash.
The showpiece event – which takes place on Saturday 7th April at Twickenham Stadium – sees the West Country side face arch-rivals Leicester Tigers in a crucial Aviva Premiership battle.
Last April, over 61,000 people savoured a fantastic outing to the home of English rugby, and Bath flanker, Zach Mercer was amongst those who have great memories of the day.
The 20-year-old – who has been involved with Eddie Jones’s England squad during this year’s NatWest 6 Nations - was an unused replacement in the inaugural year of The Clash, as Bath won 27-21, with a late Anthony Watson double sealing the victory.
But it isn’t just the positive result that has stuck in Mercer’s mind as rugby supporters and the general public alike continue to snap up tickets for this year’s event.
“Driving in on the bus for me was the most memorable part - seeing the Blue, Black and White around the bus as we drove in and the amount of supporters we had at the stadium was incredible,” he said.
“That atmosphere at Twickenham was just incredible – the supporters were right behind us throughout, and then on the final whistle it just erupted, so I’m really looking forward to getting there on April 7th.
“Even though it’s another game, it’s not, the stadium makes everything so much bigger and more pressurised but as players we love pressured environments.
“Obviously it’s Bath v Leicester, which adds an extra layer of excitement. It’s an old rivalry between two world class teams, so it’s going to be a very good day of rugby.”
