Bath City Supporters Society to host AGM on March 28
The Bath City Supporters Society are to host an Annual General Meeting on March 28 at Randall's Bar.
Following agreement of terms between the majority shareholders of Bath City Football Club, the Bath City Supporters Society and external lenders, the AGM for Bath City Football Club Limited has been fixed for Tuesday 28th March 2017. The event will be held in Randall’s, with existing shareholders of the Football Club being asked to vote on resolutions to issue 300,000 new shares to be offered for sale to the Supporters Society. This in turn will trigger the Society’s purchase of the shares to become the majority shareholder in the Club and usher in a new nine-person board, featuring six Society appointees.
Chair-elect, Nick Blofeld, commented, “Following the very successful fundraising effort last autumn when over 600 investors across Bath and from as far afield as Brazil and the US, committed £357,000 to the Big Bath City Bid, it’s great to be so close to completing the transition. The AGM should give the green light for the Supporters Society to use those funds to buy control of the Club and release the energy and commitment of the fans and community to developing the Club on the pitch and throughout Twerton, Bath and beyond.”
The next major change is the appointment of Carole Banwell as the Club’s new General Manager. With a professional background in accounting, commerce and law, Carole has volunteered at City for 18 months, before coming through an extensive recruitment process to take on this new role. The position will be pivotal in working for the new Board, Society, fans and investors new and old to implement the plans to get the Club back on a sound financial footing and to deepen the Club’s engagement with the whole community.
Looking forward to taking up her post, Carole offered "For too long the football club has been a little bit ‘below the radar’ here in Bath. The success of the supporter ownership bid has brought a new vision and a fresh energy and we are determined to create a vibrant and sustainable club which sits at the heart of the local community - and which from there reconnects with the rest of the city. I'm so excited to be involved in this significant change and to be helping to bring community-focused football, and Bath City FC, out of the shadows."
The Bath City FC Ltd AGM takes place at Randall’s Bar, Twerton Park, 7.30pm, Tuesday 28th March. It’s open to all existing shareholders of the existing Club, who have been invited by letter. This is not a meeting of Supporters Society or Big Bath City Bid investors.
