Bath Rugby set to bring the entertainment on and off the pitch at The Clash
Bath Rugby have announced that The Clash, one of the biggest domestic sporting events of 2017, will see an incredible line-up of live entertainment and interactive activities supporting the dramatic action on the pitch at Twickenham Stadium.
The Clash will see Bath Rugby host their home game against old foes Leicester Tigers in London on Saturday 8th April in an epic Aviva Premiership showdown. To celebrate the meeting of two of the fiercest rivals in rugby, a festival of entertainment for the whole family has been planned, including a guest appearance before kick-off from BBC Radio 1 DJ, Greg James.
This is the first time ever that Bath Rugby has staged a ‘home’ game away from The Rec stadium in Bath, and will give rugby fans across London and the South East a chance to watch top class rugby at Twickenham Stadium and enjoy a whole range of fun, family activities at an affordable price.
Adjoining the stadium, ‘The Forum’ will bring the spirit of Bath to Twickenham, with the ‘Circus’ and the ‘Spa,’ both named after historic parts of Bath, and the ‘Swift Half’ forming a three zoned mini-city open from 11.00.
The main hub of activity off the pitch will be centred on the fun-filled Circus. This section will host a daring motorcycle stunt display from On The Edge that will excite and entertain supporters ahead of the game. There will also be a number of ways supporters canget involved, including the chance to try your hand at rugby, fencing, equestrianism and rock climbing. There is also plenty of fun to be had on the Ferris Wheel, the dodgems and getting your face painted in Bath colours – Blue, Black and White.
To ensure supporters get a real taste of Bath Rugby’s home ground atmosphere the Swift Half, a well-known ‘Bath local’, will be in full swing from the moment the gates open at 11.00. In the same area, the main stage will feature live performances from a variety of bands, including West Country legends The Wurzels after the game, as well as international rugby legend Q&As, celebrity DJs and spectator competitions.
The Spa area offers a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the Circus and Swift Half, and will be a chance for spectators to relax, talk about the game and sample some of the best street food Bath has to offer, all wrapped up in a family festival atmosphere.
Supporters will also have the opportunity to meet Bath Rugby players past and present, and to create a ‘Tunnel of Noise’ that creates a showcase around the arrival of the team at Twickenham that energises both players and spectators alike.
A pre-match show, the likes of which has never been in Twickenham before – featuring fire-breathing beasts and ferocious performers - will create a truly epic beginning to the match and a spectacular welcome for the teams.
Tarquin McDonald, Bath Rugby Managing Director, said: “We have a superb line-up of entertainment for all the family, for young and old alike, to make this a truly fantastic day for all our supporters. We’re really excited to welcome everyone to Twickenham for what promises to be a sensational day out.
“This isn’t just a day for Bath Rugby Season Ticket Holders and core supporters. We’re putting on a superb, affordable family day out that will have lots of fun and entertainment for all ages, with a fantastic game of rugby as the centrepiece.”
Ticket prices start at just £5 for juniors and £15 for adults, with a family of four being able to enjoy this fantastic day out for as little as £40.
