Dream half marathon debut for Team Bath's Jenny Nesbitt

Most people greet their first ever half marathon with nerves and trepidation, aiming to finish the course within a reasonable time. But this wasn't the case for Team Bath's Jenny Nesbitt, who took to the Reading Half for her first 13 mile race and achieved a simply incredible time.

University of Bath student Jenny Nesbitt made a winning debut over the half-marathon distance when she was first woman home in the Vitality Reading Half-Marathon on Sunday.

The Trendell Sports Scholar, who is in the first year of a Sports & Social Science course, was all smiles as she crossed the line in 1:12:54 – the second-fastest half-marathon by a British woman this year.

It continued an impressive run of form for Nesbitt, who led Great Britain to team silver at the World University Cross Country Championships in Italy last month and also won team gold at the European Cross County Championships in December.

Jenny regularly writes a blog about her training and running exploits, detailing her thoughts and feelings as she gears up for a big event. You can read her latest entry here.
