Doyle won her heat with consumate ease with a lightning-quick time of just over 55 seconds, given that she eased off once it seemed certain she would finish in the top four positions required in order to qualify.
She could not hide her delight at the end, as she gushed to the BBC:
"It was comfortable but it wasn't a great race, but it's very difficult in the heat, you want to try and conserve as much energy as possible but you can't really take the foot off the gas so I'm happy to have just got the win and to be comfortably through to the next round.
"I always get quite nervous with the heats because you sit in the (Olympic) village watching everyone else compete and you just want to get out there and go so I'm glad I've got that out the way, now I can just go out there and focus on tomorrow."
Doyle's semi-final heat will be at 1:17 tomorrow morning.
