Francois Louw Explains The Benefit Of Two Openside Flankers

When it comes to honing your approach and tactical knowledge of the game of rugby union, taking tips from those at the pinnacle of the sport is a sure-fire way of achieving success. Bath Rugby's Francois Louw gives the low down on the use of two openside flankers.

Louw, a hard hitting flanker for Mike Ford's Bath team and an integral part of the South African set up, knows a thing or two about causing havoc at the break down and turning defence into attack.

Next month Louw will be making an appearance at Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Club, to play host for the evening and give a question and answer session, imparting much of his knowledge from his years in the game. More information on the event can be found here.

Speaking recently to BT Sport, Louw gave a detailed run through as to why a rugby team may choose to adopt the use of two openside flankers within play.

The South African international is a big avocate of the selection, which enables a side to boost their attacking options while also maintaining the ball can be secured and easily recycled should play dictate.

Watch in full below, as Louw uses a playing diagram to illustrate his point.
