Join Bath Rugby’s Todd Blackadder on Bath Rugby Foundation’s Italian Adventure

The latest event in Bath Rugby Foundation’s series of cycling challenges will be an international affair once again in 2018.

After last year’s continental adventure, the French 400, saw 70 riders raise more than £50,000, this year the Foundation’s two-wheeled fundraisers are heading to the Italian countryside.

So far, more than 90 people have signed up to take part in the Giro di Toscana – including Bath Rugby Director of Rugby, Todd Blackadder.

David Trick, the Foundation’s Corporate Fundraising Manager and President of Bath Rugby, who organised the cycling event, said: “We’re delighted that Todd has signed up to take part.

“Bath Rugby are very supportive of everything we do at Bath Rugby Foundation and we’re confident Todd will really enjoy the company of all our fundraisers while cycling round the Italian countryside.”

“I’m really looking forward to taking part in the Giro di Toscana in June. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun and will hopefully raise a lot of money for the Foundation, which makes a real a difference to the lives of a lot of young people in Bath.

“I hope Bath Rugby supporters sign up to join us on this challenge and support Bath Rugby Foundation.”

This year’s cycling challenge sees the Foundation taking a different approach from previous rides.

David Trick said: “Rather than cycling 80 miles, unpacking, sleeping, packing. We’ll stay in the same place and do three different loops starting and ending at an internationally renowned triathlete resort.

“We’ve planned three 80-mile loops and three 50-mile loops, so whatever your

experience of cycling, there is something for everyone.”

“We put in the 50-mile loop this time to encourage new people to join who think that 80 miles is beyond them. The shorter, 50-mile route is achievable.”

The Giro Di Toscana takes place from June 6 to June 10. It costs £749 to take part, with an additional minimum fundraising target of £650.

Previous fundraising cycle rides organised by Bath Rugby Foundation have seen riders pedal across Ireland, throughout the Normandy countryside and from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

“We’ve learnt a lot from each ride we’ve done,” said David Trick. “This year’s ride is the perfect combination of a challenge and an enjoyable event. The routes will also leave you with enough energy to have a bit of fun every evening.”
